REDWOOD RECORDS & ROYAL OAKIE PRESENTS: HALF STACK, NATURAL BRIDGES & DONALD BEAMAN
11/22
$10 DOOR
Half Stack's work thrums with an expansive Western energy, the perfect soundtrack to a drive down a wide-open desert highway. Singer / guitarist Peter Kegler was raised by a bluegrass musician father, who taught him the instrument at a young age and encouraged him to get involved with bands. This became a lifelong passion for Kegler. “I’ve always kind of referred to it as country-influenced music,” Kegler says. But while he and the rest of his bandmates have certainly leaned into scrubby cowboy vibes to come up with their whiskey-soaked spin on indie rock, one senses whispers of Tiger Trap, Silver Jews, and The Grateful Dead in the band’s music too.
Natural Bridges is a Northern California band that plays a mix of pop, rock, and soul music. Their album Residual Daydreams is inspired by artists like Brian Wilson, Brenton Wood, Todd Rundgren, and NRBQ. The album's songs are described as having a timeless quality, reminiscent of 1960s and 1970s music.
A songwriter, singer, and guitarist residing in Northern California, Donald Beaman has released four albums. He performs both solo and with a backing band and has shared the stage with Jonathan Richman, Sharon Van Etten, Michael Hurley, Mdou Moctar, Marisa Anderson, William Tyler, Xylouris White, Shannon Lay, Mary Lattimore, Six Organs of Admittance, and Little Wings.
Prior to his return to the west coast, as a member of The Double, he was at the epicenter of the New York City music scene of the early to mid 2000s. The Double released three albums – including Loose in the Air, on Matador Records; recorded a John Peel Session for the BBC at Maida Vale Studios; and toured extensively throughout the United States and in Europe, sharing the stage with: Feist, The Black Keys, Interpol, M83, Ratatat, The Mountain Goats, The Go-Betweens, Cass McCombs, TV On The Radio, Blonde Redhead, and many others.
Beaman’s fifth album Fog On Mirror Glass is slated for release on Oakland, CA based Royal Oakie Records on June 14th 2024.

MOMMYHEADS W/ BART DAVENPORT & HOD AND THE HELPERS
10/26
$12 DOOR
Mommyheads
To their loyal fans, some of which often follow them to catch multiple gigs, The Mommyheads have it all: impeccable songwriting, inventive arrangements, thought-provoking lyrics, and a level of musicianship that makes even the most intricate time signatures seem easy. They are the kind of band who can learn a song by King Crimson, Genesis, or Supertramp during soundcheck, and make the audience think it's probably one of their own deep cuts.
The Mommyheads move effortlessly between indie, power pop, nods to the British new wave era of the early 80's, classic rock and prog – sometimes within the space of one song.
In a fast-moving media climate where few people take the time to really digest music like they used to, there's still something to be said for music that actually grows on you with repeated listens. The Mommyheads' songs do.
Bart Davenport
Over the course of his career, Bart Davenport has been many things: a garage rocker with the Loved Ones, a smooth modern soul crooner with Honeycut, and a solo artist with a track record full of sonic left turns ('70s soul, dance music, bossa nova, psych pop) that makes following his career consistently surprising. His early solo records, like 2003's Game Preserve, often dig deeply into soft rock tropes, enlivening them with his honeyed lead vocals and the care put into the construction of the songs. Later efforts, like 2018's Blue Motel (which was recorded under the name Bart & the Bedazzled) added '80s pop sophistication to the template. By the time he entered his third decade making music, it was still hard to predict what a Bart Davenport album might contain

Previewed by the single "Com/Broke," Lunadon's LP arrived in 2017 on Agitated Records.
Bred and spread from San Jose, CA , JM and D came to life in 2006 as a twisted combination of garage punk n’ roll with influences from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. HEALING POTPOURRI “the sound of a bottle missing the trash can” https://healingpotpourri.bandcamp.com/album/blanket-of-calm
KOLUMBO: Since he was a landlocked Dallas, Texas kid, beach culture has held a tropical mystique for Kolumbo composer, arranger, keyboardist Frank LoCrasto. Family trips documented by camcorder videos, featuring slinky jazz-fusion soundtracks are etched in the Brooklyn-based artist’s memory. In his mind, there will always be a fantasyland replete with wicker furniture, pristine beaches, swaying palm trees, the smell of vanilla-scented suntan lotion, and breathtaking aqua water expanses.
These days, LoCrasto uses his imagination to create dreamy musical locales with the Brooklyn-based, Tropically-minded Kolumbo. The tiki-jazz torchbearers are releasing their debut full length, Gung-Ho, out June 29 2022, Calico Discos. The 8-song album conjures the lush sounds of symphonic 1950s and 1960s exotica, and jazz-pop orchestral albums recorded in Capitol Records’ famed studios. The album title speaks to the herculean task of producing an exotica album averaging 11 musicians per track during a pandemic.
