The name may sound like some folk legend or baseball player, but Bucky Walters is also an up-and-coming band hailing from the soggy bottoms of Arcata California. This young acoustic sextet, offers an original high energy performance and a foot-stompin’ fun atmosphere. Their sound has a nostalgic bluegrass vibe that maintains a fresh, hot-pickin’ intensity, attracting music lovers across the board.
Since their establishment in 2005, Bucky Walters has performed countless shows in northern California, sharing the bill with artists such as The Blue Turtle Seduction, Hot Buttered Rum, Jimmy Ibbotson (of Nitty Gritty Dirt Band), Greensky Bluegrass, Mike Marshall, Joe Craven, Lorie Lewis, Todd Phillips, Peter Rowan, and David Grisman.
“There’s great picking and singing throughout, and good songs (I especially like ‘Dead Man’s Blues’)…they sound like they could be old songs and that’s a good thing.” -Bob Doran, The North Coast Journal Weekly 2/15/07
“Did y’all know just how good Bucky Walters is?” -The Arcata Eye, 1/9/07
“…Some of the best, most energetic bluegrass I’ve ever heard…” -Humboldtmusic.com
“It’s definitely not your average bluegrass band. These guys sound great together. Good licks, harmonies, and definitely attitude.” -Tribe.net
