Open Mic:
First six people to sign up guaranteed a spot – musicians, beat boxers, poets, comedians, political rants; everyone with something to share is welcome.
Slam:
Poets compete with a poem of up to three minutes in length in the first and second round. Poems are scored by randomly selected judges. Top four poets of the first round advance to the second round. Top two poets finish in the money. Annually, the winning-est poets are invited to compete for a spot on the "Legendary Santa Cruz Slam Team" who will go on to fight nationally to maintain Santa Cruz's 2011 top 8 finish.
Feature:
Between the first and second rounds of the slam, a nationally recognized traveling poet will deliver a twenty minute feature set. Every show, a new feature.
