“Epigenetic Inheritance”

Epigenetics is the study of how gene expression, development, and disease are influenced by factors beyond the DNA code, including how DNA is packaged in our cells. The Strome lab at UC Santa Cruz uses the model organism C. elegans to tackle key questions in epigenetics: What is the nature of epigenetic information? Can epigenetic information be transmitted from parents to offspring? Can epigenetic information control development? Our studies in C. elegans provide insights into epigenetic inheritance in humans.
